Hiya Gramps

I made this birthday card for my daughter Candace's grandpa's birthday (mouthful). I love that man.  Whenever I think of him, I smile.  And he was a tough cookie. He's not my dad.  He's my daughter's father's dad (another mouthful). I hope he likes this card.  I have a really difficult time making cards suitable for men...and this one barely fits the bill...the little bow on that button just might cross the line a bit, but I don't think he'll mind.  He's really old. HA! Don't worry, he wouldn't mind the tease...it's a thing we have...insulting each other.   I know.  Disturbing. You know he's one of these guys that comes across as crotchety, hard, tough.  And he is.  I remember being youngER.  I never wanted him angry at me.  He is scary direct.  You don't want to disappoint this man. He tells you what makes him proud. And it's genuine. He is just as genuine when he's upset. So you never wan...

Big Birthday Celebration

Are you here having fun hopping along with 3GirlJAM in celebration of Julie's sister's big birthday year?  What a great little cyber party we're having!  (she's really a young thing, but she's having a great year) Well, if not, you should be hopping along (I'll tell you why in a moment). There are some really wonderful birthday ideas from all of us on the design team...and including Julie's two girls, who are also having fun celebrating their aunt's birthday. If you need to go back to the beginning, head over to the 3GirlJAM blog to get started.  Otherwise.... Here's my card in celebration her special year! I used blue crinkle ribbon from the newly released  Red,White,Blue Bundle.   It's such a nice shade of blue!  The white has bits of the red and blue in it (and I love the ribbon when it's like that)...and the red is also pretty awesome...like marachino cherries.  The little button in the center is from Pinque Peacock (l...

Live the Life...

Imagined.... I so really want to tell myself that right now! But, of course, this card isn't for me.  It's for a dear sweet friend who I believe has made a change and I believe she is finally achieving what some of what she imagines.  She believes in herself and I am so happy to see that strength of spirit. I'm featuring this card over on the 3GirlJAM Challenge blog today.  But let me tell you a little about the other stuff I used. That gorgeous button in the center of the flower is from my favorite home based awesome business, Pinque Peacock . And so is that Navy crinkle ribbon from 3GirlJAM ! I just love the fact that these buttons are handcrafted in the USA, the owners are home based enthusiastic business owners, and interacting with "customer service" is interacting with the CEO!    Oh and some CEO who is already rich, isn't getting the bulk of the profits...it's going in direct support of the FAMILY!  What's not to love about...

2013 - The year of ....

GRADUATIONS Today, I've got a post over on the 3GirlJAM blog .  It's featuring the card above, which is one of several graduation cards I created over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  As I mentioned over there, we attended several parties celebrating high school and college graduations for several members on my husband's side of the family...and we're not done YET...we have another party next month!   One excellent benefit was that over the weekend with all the graduation fun, I didn't have to cook at all until Memorial Day!  It was great. For the card, I used the following stamp sets and accessories: - As I mentioned over on 3GirlJAM, Anyway, the ribbon I used is Coral Crush from the  Caribbean Splash  bundle (awesome festive name!~).  It goes very nicely with two colors that are introduced in the upcoming catalog (see below) - The wavy blue designer paper, I received from Paula's Kit club (several...

Silly Birthday Card

Good Morning! Today I am showing you a bright and silly birthday card that I created for my 3GirlJam post (go visit me over there and leave me some lovin'!) Anyway, I wanted to create  a cheerful and bright card and I loved this sentiment from the Stampin Up! set, Bombs Away .  I'm not sure how I feel about the new polymer stamps from SU, but I certainly did love this set.  This would be a good card for one of my friends at work that just HATES to tell anyone her age.   The doily, punch used to make the delicate butterfly, and cute little pearls are also from SU.   I made the flower with 3GirlJam Ice Blue Crinkle Ribbon, from the  Hot & Cold Bundle .  Of course, this time of year, I'm choosing the "Hot", because I'm ready for more summer fun!   The center of the flower is a button from   Pinque Peacock   from their new May release.  Isn't it just delicate and wonderful? While I was in Spain, I found myself inspire...

Vino for All!

Good Monday everyone! I'm reporting to you directly from... Across the Atlantic. No, really.  I'm on vacation in Barcelona...coming back tomorrow, but thought I would share a Wine Journal, inspired directly from all the rich culture of Spain. And of course, I couldn't resist adding a beautiful Pinque Peacock pin and 3GirlJam ribbon rose to adorn my cover. Okay, well, that's it for me.  I'm on my way to the shore to laze around with my daughter one last day before heading back to the daily grind (so I can afford to do this again SOON) In the meantime, everyone have a  Fabulous and Art-Filled Day!

Dead Black Tulips - Part Two and Final

Thought you guys might like to see the final version of my painting, Dead Black Tulips. But I did add a bit more color.  But they are still dead. That's it.  I'm running late and am starting to feel a bit anxious. See you next week! For those of you that participated in the Mixed Media Hop this weekend, I've posted the winner of the blog candy over on my Facebook page, Bloomingpink Studios ! Go See if you're a winner!

Two Much Fun! Mixed Up Media Hop

Today I have two projects to share! First up is a card I made for 3GirlJam, highlighting some more ribbon from their new release: It's features "purple passion" from the Royal Bundle . I think this would be a good card for Mother's Day, don't you?  Or possibly a feminine birthday. 3GirlJam is having a wonderful 20% off sale this weekend, through Sunday, May 5....so you might want to stock up on an assortment of colorful ribbon. And my next project is for the Mixed up Media Hop .    There are several wonderful mixed media artists participating in this hop, so be sure to back up and start at the beginning over on Maria's blog:  BEGIN HERE Oh, you're back!  That didn't take long, eh? (I forgot to tell you I was second in the hop) Anyway, silliness aside, here's my project. I'm not quite done with it...I see a few things I'd like to clean up, but for now here for you I present my   "Dead...

Fancy Framed Calendar

Good Morning Everyone. Today I am posting the project above over on the Pinque Peacock blog.  Come say hi to me over there! Finally I finished decorating this frame I purchased for the sole purpose of holding my 2013 calendar months.  I've had it sitting on my dining room table waiting for me to get my act together and finish it.   Also, I'm heading back to the daily grind for another busy work week and lots of time away from my fur babies!  No Fun...For them or for me. But before I get myself too depressed about working and traveling, NOW, at least I have a nice calendar for my cubicle at work! I used one of Pinque Peacock's wonderful silk buttons, newly released this month, to center my pretty yellow paper flower. At least I finished it at a time of year when everything is blooming pink and coming up roses. Well, that's about enough jabber for today.  Have a grand week. Be sure to sprinkle some art in your...

Ho....It's Your Birthday!

TGIF! I have a challenging week next week, so I am going to appreciate this weekend!  What about you? But that has nothing to do with this project.  I have a B-Day card to share today.  I just need some in my stash.  Of course, this will most likely be hand-delivered, because those candles, and the button are a bit bulky. Also, I could have colored a bit better, but I needed (NEEDED) to get this done and just had to gag the perfectionist in me. Oh, my favorite part (besides the candles), is that wonderfully bright, pink crinkle ribbon.  Really.  The whole card was designed around the designer paper and THAT RIBBON . Okay, time to think about all the fun I am going to have this weekend. Cuz next week, YUK.

Pinque Peacock - April Release Day 3

Good Day all!  Today, I am participating in Day 3 of Pinque Peacock's April release!  If you haven't yet participated, you'll want to start over on Pinque Peacock's blog HERE . (And remember to participate in all three days to see all the great projects!) There are PRIZES!  So, make sure you read all about it on the starter post! My little journal project above features one of the fabulous silk buttons included in this months release.  I won't really spend too much time chatting about it, because I don't want to hold you up from see what else everybody else made (and there are some wonderfully beautiful projects - much more genius than mine!) Thanks so much for participating in the hop this month!  And have a wonderful Sunday! Jessica is next ---->  J ESSICA'S CRAFT SHAQUE

Rainy Day Post

WELLLLLLLLL....is all I can say. The weather we just experienced the past few days was just replaced with Wet, Chilly, and.... Wet. Interestingly enough, our current weather forecast is serendipitous to the new challenge at the 3GirlJam Challenge ! (remember, there is always a great chance of winning some really fabulous ribbon, but you have to play to win!...and I hear that there is going to be some NEW bundles available!) So, that makes my bad hair day and wet socks worth it, don't you think? The challenge is (and I'm paraphrasing!) to be do something rainy with ribbon! Okay, so where's the ribbon?  I know.  Well, this is part of a series of paintings I am doing and one thing I enjoy doing when I price my paintings is to create a one of a kind tag to go along with the original artwork. In comes the ribbon: (and a sweet Pinque Peacock stickpin!) So...there you go.  What you can do on a rainy day, with acrylics, a few palette k...

Distressed Note Board

Good morning everyone.  Today I wanted to show you one of the distressed noteboards I made.  I made a few all very unique.  This one is a piece of scrap wood, stained and distressed.  I added some textured and distressed cardstock over the base (and also on the clothes pin).  Then I prettied it up with some great ribbon, including crinkle ribbon from 3GirlJam, and bead/wire accessories.   It was such a fun project.  I have another one over on the 3GirlJam blog today as well.   Hope you are having a great Friday!  I'm looking forward to a little rest and relaxation with my doggies and husband!

Springtime List Book Beauty

Hi! Today, I'm over on the  Pinque Peacock blog presenting this beautiful little book! It was a SUPER QUICK project.  Which I needed since I've had little time for crafting. I needed a quick project...but mostly I just needed the crafting time! For some reason, I'm really into making and decorating books right now.  This book is 8.25 x 5 and is filled with blank sheets.  Maybe it will be for lists, things to keep track of, and maybe I'll sketch...or even write down my dreams! I decorated the outside by making a flower out of: - Burlap ribbon I purchased from Julie Odil's CTMH shop - an old scrap of ribbon (but pretty) - and a couple buttons (the blue one was one of my recent freebies from SU Saleabration - got to love free) Topping it off with one of the Pinque Peacock's angel pins....mine is missing her halo (which actually is quite fitting for me!) I LOVE this book.  I just may never use it, which would be a serious waste of beau...

Pretty Little Notebook

Wooo-Whooo!  It's Friday.  Let me just say that I'm so ready for the weekend! Aren't you? Anyway, I'm here to show you a little book I made.  It's a small book - measures 4.25 x 5.25 inches.  So, in essence it's a card sized notebook with about 20 total sheets of paper stitched in.  I really needed a list book to jot down things I need to remember.  And of course I wanted it stylish at the same time! I've used the Crinkle Ribbon, Sunflower, from the  Harvest Bundle.   Stamped it, added a little butterfly, and an antique dry cleaning pin with a super tiny tag! The snapshot below highlights the spine where I stitched the book together. Hope that this simple project gives you a bit of inspiration! Have a great weekend!

Fashionable Tote for that Oh So Fashionable Gal

Good Morning Everyone! Bringing you a little stylish project. What better way to start a new week than in style! With a little tote, that is. And a pretty one at that, wouldn't you agree? My project is a fashionable tote to help a precious 'lil girl keep track of all her special items....those items that all little girls need on an incredible journey with her friends. I think my daughter would have loved this when she was a little girl.  If it were larger, I think she would actually like it still! I've used a muslin bag (8x10) from 3GirlJam that I decorated with some colorful fabric.  I fancied and sewed the bottom of the bag so that it would sit flat.  I really liked that extra feature!  I will definitely be using that technique over again.  I added the jumbo eyelets and included some colorful ribbon to fashion it as a little purse.  A sturdy little purse that would endure an outdoor adventure! I've donned it front and ...
