Dear Santa...

Dear Santa, Let long warm days and bright sunshine stick around for a bit longer! I don't know about you, but that would be on my Christmas List.   I don't think I want my summer to end! Well....Sigh. At least another wonderful Friday is here! AND It's a long weekend!! AND It's another Friends with Flair. Here is a Christmas themed card I put together tonight.  Trying to put some ideas together for my holiday cards this year. This card features the Unity set, "Naughty or Nice" . It has such a nice Vintage flair!  And, in my usual passion, I used some Merlot 3GirJam crinkle ribbon! SO...there you have it.  It's still warm outside, there's a full-ish moon, the mosquitoes and beetles are pecking against the window..and here I sit, martini in hand, whipping up Christmas cards. And now, off I go to check out all the other fabulous creations!

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

First up is my Lil Halloween Chick! Totally Love this image! And I used some DSP that I received in blog candy from Julie Odil. (THANKS JULIE!) And of course, some wonderful crinkled ribbon from 3GirlJam . Next Up Most Wonderful Time of the Year This was the sneak I showed you yesterday and includes the digital paper that I posted HERE on Sunday. Just lots of texture and layering and coloring.  I also threw in some embossed stamping from the {ippity} Christmas collection last year, Warm Wishes   Okay, so that's it for me! Next up is

Blue Christmas - Digital Paper Freebie

Lately I've been letting my hands get covered in paint and glue, creating some mixed media project. I stopped with this one when it was in the background stage because I thought it would make a great digital paper.  And I thought I would share with all of you. I created two formats - one at 8.5 x 11 and the other at 12 x 12. To retrieve these, simply click on the image so that it appears full sized and save it to your hard drive. Blue Christmas - 8.5 x 11 Blue Christmas - 12 x 12 Be sure to stop back on Wednesday, so that you can see what I did with paper I created from these images! If you have any questions, just let me know! ENJOY!

Never Overshadow Your Dreams

Another FWF (and another late post!)  So, I'll be quick and to the point!  I created this card for my daughter, who graduated this year (if you remember me bragging back in June).  I'm going to see her soon and I wanted to make sure that I have a little $omething for her...it'll be stashed in this card!  The sentiment is Unity, from the April 2012 KOM The buttons are 3 Girl Jam Vintage Buttons .  I think they "completed" this card pretty nicely, don't you? NOW I really need to go and explore all the other blogs! I need to go check out all the FWF creations on the Unity Blog AND I want to go check out the new 3 Girl Jam Challenge Blog (see details below in my OTHER post today)

Miss My Husband Pie

Another Fabulous Wednesday...not just cuz it's "hump" day and the work week is half over, but also because of the Fabulous Feature.  And this week, we're featuring lots of Farm Fresh creations using the {ippity} set, " Farm Fresh ". Such a down home, darn tootin' set.  [said with the best Tennessee accent I can muster, considering it has faded - despite the Yankees tellin' me otherwise!]  I have now officially been in the north east longer than I was in Tennessee, where I was raised. Oh, but I digress.... The background is also {ippity}.  It's " Gurnsey Gingham ". AND.. of course, I'm also using some of my new favorite crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl Jam . I bet you're wondering why I call this post, "Miss My Husband Pie".  Have you seen the movie, "Waitress" (with Keri Russell)?  Anyway, if you have, then the post title is our little inside joke to all those of you that haven't. HA! So, go see it

Sweetest Birthday Ever

Today is my first post over on the 3 Girl Jam blog .  It was so much fun hitting "publish"! Yay, I'm a real designer! Okay, well, enough about me, right? One of my dear friends is having a birthday in a few days and THIS is her birthday card. After fretting with what to do, I settled on an {ippity} itty bitty stamp, " Sweet on You " for the awesome cupcake tower, and a Unity set, " Oh Happy Day ", for the sentiment on the front. I framed it with a bow using "Baby Girl" Crinkle Ribbon from from the 3 Girl Jam's  Baby Bundle set .   Why did I fret, you wonder? Because there are too many different and wonderful cupcakes to choose from at Unity. Having SEVERAL, I decided to add an image and the rest of the sentiment in the front. Recognize this cupcake?  It's from the {ippity} itty bitty, " Counts as a Fruit " "everything" is also from "Oh Happy Day" So, her card is going

Sweet Summer

While the sun is reminding me that summer is soon to end, this card was made to celebrate summer!  I made it to feel fresh and "sweet". The watermelon slice and sentiment is from the {ippity} set, " New Season, New Wonder ".  Below is a close-up of the melon: Isn't it scrumptious?  I thought you'd agree! The ribbon is a 3GirlJam Crinkle Ribbon from the Hot/Cold bundle.  The color may be "Ice Blue", but it screams Fruity  Caribbean  beverage to me! So, like I said in the opening sentence, the summer is soon to part us...We, the dogs and I, went on another walk again after work while Dave biked, and by the time we got back to the car (just after 8 pm), it was already almost dark! Sigh. But hey, here's a picture of my sweet muddy pups in the car ready to come home (for a beer)!

Tranquility

This is a bridge the dogs and I have walked or ran over probably 100 times this summer. It is really a very peaceful place.

Swamp GRRRRR

Lately, we've been calling Layla "Swamp GRRRR", because she hadn't had a bath in a while...and...was smelling a little moldy - like the stream she loves to cool off in after our morning walks. But here she is the next morning, all clean, posing pretty for the camera. Now, we can once again call her "Pretty GRRRR".

Buzzing with Happy

Today, as part of the {ippity} Fabulous Feature , I decided to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty (literally) with a fun mixed media project.   The featured set is: Quotes a'La Happy I HAD to use bees.  So, I grabbed a couple more {ippity} sets  for the bees..." Bee Better Together " itty bitty and " Your Frendship-My Cup of Tea ". And to finish it off,  I used some hand-dyed crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl Jam .  I'm telling you...you HAVE to get some of this.  Such a great assortment of colors. This has so many layers that the canvas now has probably doubled in weight.  It started a little pastel in color, then went dark...and ended bright and cheerful.  Thank goodness, because how can one correlate HAPPY with anything other than bright "and cheerful". I really just put my whole self in a project like this.  When I paint kitschy stuff like this, I tend to use my hands just about as much as I do a brush...Whats worse,

Happy Places

The dogs and I venture upon this child's special hide-out occasionally on one of our morning walks.  While it doesn't really look used, I believe it still is, because with each passing, the chairs change locations, and trinkets and toys come and go. When I see it, it takes me immediately back to my own time of youth and innocence.  I loved the woods even when I was little. Such freedom and serenity with the cool breeze, rattling leaves, chirps, and occasional shuffling of the underbrush as the chipmunks and squirrels scampered away. And almost nothing more thrilling than uncovering crawdads and salamandors in the trickling streams or finding that perfect flower. I think I was meant to have these two dogs in my life at this moment.  Otherwise I would miss this...and the flashback to the day when there was nothing ahead but dreams.

Birthday Girl

I created the birthday card above for a friend of mine.  Her birthday is tomorrow and she lives a million miles away (not really, but it seems that far)...which means, of course, I am once again exercising my all too common practice of being late or forgetting altogether. For this card, I used some awesome hand dyed binding tape from 3 Girl Jam that I've been hoarding for quite awhile. I love this ribbon, because of the hand dyed qualities which produces sometimes subtle color changes.  It's great stuff and available HERE . You'll have to go get yourself some so you can start hoarding too! The stamp is one of the sentiments from the {ippity}itty bitty " Fabulous Girl ". Enjoy your weekend!

Dream to Be - Fabulous Feature and Hope for a Friend

In our new tradition, the {ippity} chicks are featuring inspiration for a stamp set each week.  This week, the set is from a recent release (June).  It's a great set with so many usages.  Be sure to check out all the inspiration available this week on the ippity blog . I chose to make mine uplifting and hopeful, which conjures up all sorts of things...especially this time of year.  From new high school graduates and students returning to college all making plans for the future to others reflecting on the summer and wishful of it's soon return. To the simplest thoughts as simply making progress and hope for the courage and strength to pursue a dream or progress. Dream to Be Which leads me what making this card is REALLY about.  It's bit just about a stamp set.  It's about courage and strength. And My Dear Friend. Who could truly use a lot of strength and hope right now.  Collective strength and hope. If you remember my friend that was in the terribl
