Snowy Fun

I did this for a swap that's due soon, but not really soon enough for anyone to use for Christmas. Thus, the "Missing You" sentiment. I'm probably going to make more of these for some of my Christmas cards...using a Christmas greeting instead. Several people are coming over next weekend to make cards. This is probably one that we'll do. I think they'd really like the technique that was used on the background. The background is made with the an embossing folder - embossing wax paper instead of paper to create a design. Then the wax paper is ironed onto the paper to create a resist when inked with a brayer. Cool, eh? The technique was the basis for the swap. I hadn't really done this technique before, so it was fun. Now...to come up with about 5 more designs that can be done quickly. Gotta get my greeting cards in the mail ... soon!

Creepy Spooky Nights

I know. It's out of place. But this is my contribution to the 2010 Calendar swap I'm hosting (I only host about 1-2 swaps a year.) I'm so excited about the months I've received thus far! The ladies have been doing a fabulous job and we're going to have an entire years worth of beautiful paper art!

Pour Vous

I finally took the opportunity to put together a couple little gifts this afternoon while my husband was once again slaving for the man on a Saturday afternoon. This is a little bag that holds a necklace I made for my daughter. For once I can honestly say that this was NOT difficult to create. Here's a close-up. Next up is the photo of the address label. I just LOVE decorating the OUTSIDE too. It just makes opening up the surprise package all that more exciting.

Jewelry Trinkets

I recently had a few days to create some jewelry pieces in bronze. I had a bit of a dilemma with one batch that was very frustrating. The bronz never sintered and when I took the pieces out of the kiln, they just crumbled. This was particularly disturbing, because these pieces were from a class. This is what they looked like when I pulled them out. My heart sunk. Just frustrated and devastated, I did some research on the problem and think...THINK...I know how to solve a similar dilemma in the future....I really don't want to repeat the failure. Another exciting adventure that has been occurring SINCE I used the kiln...the fire detectors keep going off. At unexpected (and unwelcome) times. One day this week, I came home and they were just ringing up a storm... I felt so badly for the cats and my dog, because I could tell from their behavior that they had been putting up with the searing bell for some time...and of course, no fire. Hmmmm. We cannot figure out the issue. Guess I shou

Friendship

I created this card for a friend of mine, then went ahead and made several more for one of Vivian's swaps. I used wax paper with the embossing folder to add a resist to the background when I tinted it in pink. I finished it off with some ribbon, tiny square brad (from SU), and a cameo using same set from Clearly Vintage . Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. It was cold yesterday, but beautiful today! I couldn't resist being outside and since I can't run right now because of my foot, I washed my car! I love getting these little gifts of warm sunshine - especially in November!

For the Girls

I've been working on a few cards this weekend using some stamps I purchased from Clearly Vintage. Here's another card using the same two sets (Glamour Girls and Motif). I love the vintage images that Cora has created in clear stamps! If you like vintage, right now she's having an awesome sale - 40% off any set. Go visit Clearly Vintage to find out more information. Please note that the sentiments in both cards are from other companies I enjoy: Unity Stamp Company (Wonderful You) and Verve (Express Yourself)
