I found this pretty little bowl and a few others at a thrift shop near my work! While my husband was unimpressed with them and perplexed by my joy, I'm sure my daughter would understand. She thrifts not only as a matter of necessity but also because she is purposefully mindful about reducing needless capitalism and the use of poor labor in other countries. Her other main focus is to repurpose as much as possible to reduce needless waste and trash in the environment. She knows how hard it is to find something useful AND pretty...especially now that it's such a trendy thing to do.
I guess my thrill was more of the "look at the pretty item I found", which means that I'm still more trendy and capitalist than I wish to be.

My mom still has her bowls like that. Expect the stencils are painted green. That was when green was all the rage in kitchen wear. My family doesn't understand my joy of the occassional find in a thrift store either.
