Love Ewe

What an exhausting and hot hot week we are having.  Today, when my 'lil critters and I meandered out of the woods early this morning after our walk, I actually could have used another shower.  The temps weren't so bad, but the humidity...amazing.

What a wimp I am compared to my college years when I lived in southeastern TN and summer temperatures with high humidity easily reached 100F.

One of the memories that always stand out in mind (especially during the summer) was the year my daughter was 2.  We lived in a townhouse that didn't have any AC, and in the midst of the heat wave that year, the temperatures were reaching highs of over 105F.  I would get home from work/school/daycare as the sun was setting and it felt warmer INSIDE than it did OUTSIDE.

We learned what was open late...and what was cool.....Needless to say, we hung out at those places (late and cool) until they closed (mostly the university library).

Ahhh...those were the days....

Well, okay, enough of the memories, but my card today took me back there, because it's been so long since I've had a small child.

I don't know about EWE (snort laugh), but the images in this card just make me smile.

Today the {ippity} Fabulous Feature is all about Love...and...Family...and...Birth...

Which, of course, took me back to when my daughter was a whee one.  And for me, that is what inspired this card.  The sentiment "because of YOU our dream came true". Of course, to go along with the sheep (LOVE YOU), I changed it to "EWE".

And I love to remember when she was so tiny.  She was such a smart, loving, happy girl.

She still smart, happy, and loving....And makes me smile whenever I see a picture of her...even as a grown-up!

I have three huge passions related to art: photography, jewelry making, and paper crafts. Above combines two of those passions: jewelry making and paper crafts. The necklace featured is a gift for a friend. I used Unity Stamp Company stamps in all the projects shown in the picture above. If you look closely, you'll even see that I used the Hawaiian Border and the swirls in the lambs fleece of Love Ewe to make the bronze charms in the jewelry above! Besides the stamps used, other materials included Bronz Clay, antiqued bronze findings, and various beads. Of course, what gift isn't complete without packaging? You can find the tutorial for the bag Here . Paper and cardstock, punches, and ribbon used are from Stampin Up! while the stamp used is from Unity's March Kit of the Month . People who know me know how I strive to use humor everyday...and especially to make light of otherwise stressful situations. So, my quote for the day has absolutely nothing to do w

My project today is a little mini album I put together to give to my daughter, who is exploring the possibility of traveling across America from Washington State to Delaware in July. I wanted to give her something to log and journal her adventures! I used stamps from Unity Stamp Company's June and November Kits of the Month for the cover. Inside the cover, I put a little note. She plans to hitch hike which is extremely bothersome to me. I want her to be safe! Maybe I'll suggest flying out and renting a car and doing a rode trip with her! That would curb my fears and will also be fun! The journal block comes from their September Kit . Unity Stamp Company is featuring a sale on their previous Kits! This is the time to get them if you don't have ENOUGH! See their sales here: Sales at Unity The inside pages were not made with a KOM stamp, but this stamp is cool all the same. I love this flower . It's big and has many uses! To start at the beginning of th

Growing in Unity - Day 5 {Be Your Own Beautiful}

Well, here we are, my last post for the week!  It's Friday, and I am happy to report that I survived my first 2013 work week (an entire three days, mind you) after my little break in December. I thought I would finish off the week with a bright and cheerful card. Because it's getting colder and colder, and this is how I'm choosing to fight off that chill (this and some hot yoga sessions at my local yoga center) ......oh, and delighting in the fact that after passing winter solstice, we are now seeing more daylight with each passing day! I'm going to slip this card in with my daughter's stuff (somehow) when I see her this weekend.  She is about to leave the country, spending the next several months abroad.  And if you remember, she did this a year or so ago.  It was difficult, because she is a bit of a nomad and off the grid when she's abroad (no phone/computer).  So, we don't talk as often as we do when she is "Home"....mostly whenever she i
