Buzzing with Happy

Today, as part of the {ippity} Fabulous Feature, I decided to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty (literally) with a fun mixed media project.

The featured set is:

Quotes a'La Happy

I HAD to use bees.  So, I grabbed a couple more {ippity} sets  for the bees..."Bee Better Together" itty bitty and "Your Frendship-My Cup of Tea".

And to finish it off,  I used some hand-dyed crinkle ribbon from 3 Girl Jam.  I'm telling you...you HAVE to get some of this.  Such a great assortment of colors.

This has so many layers that the canvas now has probably doubled in weight.  It started a little pastel in color, then went dark...and ended bright and cheerful.  Thank goodness, because how can one correlate HAPPY with anything other than bright "and cheerful".

I really just put my whole self in a project like this.  When I paint kitschy stuff like this, I tend to use my hands just about as much as I do a brush...Whats worse, sometimes I smear by licking my finger and then smearing...or even far far worse...cleaning a finger before touching the canvas by sticking them in my mouth.

YIKES..I know.

It's a good thing the acrylics I use have few, if any, CL (caution labels) or CAprop65 warnings (cancer warning)....and NO LEAD.  I'd be a dumb fool by now if that were the case!

But anyway, enough about that.  I had to hum along while working on this.  Well, last night anyway.  I have been working on it over the few evenings, and finally...with a deadline approaching...just had to say "DONE" [for now].

I will probably add a little more bling.  If I do, I will throw in another picture tomorrow.  I just ran out of time!

Such fun.
Now, you...HAVE SOME Happy!

OH, and I forgot, I'm also linking this up to

But I'm just a little late this week!

Inspirational Unity Blog Hop

I have three huge passions related to art: photography, jewelry making, and paper crafts. Above combines two of those passions: jewelry making and paper crafts. The necklace featured is a gift for a friend. I used Unity Stamp Company stamps in all the projects shown in the picture above. If you look closely, you'll even see that I used the Hawaiian Border and the swirls in the lambs fleece of Love Ewe to make the bronze charms in the jewelry above! Besides the stamps used, other materials included Bronz Clay, antiqued bronze findings, and various beads. Of course, what gift isn't complete without packaging? You can find the tutorial for the bag Here . Paper and cardstock, punches, and ribbon used are from Stampin Up! while the stamp used is from Unity's March Kit of the Month . People who know me know how I strive to use humor everyday...and especially to make light of otherwise stressful situations. So, my quote for the day has absolutely nothing to do with my project. Unity Blog Hop

My project today is a little mini album I put together to give to my daughter, who is exploring the possibility of traveling across America from Washington State to Delaware in July. I wanted to give her something to log and journal her adventures! I used stamps from Unity Stamp Company's June and November Kits of the Month for the cover. Inside the cover, I put a little note. She plans to hitch hike which is extremely bothersome to me. I want her to be safe! Maybe I'll suggest flying out and renting a car and doing a rode trip with her! That would curb my fears and will also be fun! The journal block comes from their September Kit . Unity Stamp Company is featuring a sale on their previous Kits! This is the time to get them if you don't have ENOUGH! See their sales here: Sales at Unity The inside pages were not made with a KOM stamp, but this stamp is cool all the same. I love this flower . It's big and has many uses! To start at the beginning of the blog hop, ...
