Growing in Unity - Day 1 {Mon Chapeau Chaud}

Here we are the very last day of 2012.  How was it for you? For me, a wonderful year...too much work, but wonderful all the same.

My highlights were:

(1) Visiting the west coast to see my daughter and her grandfather
(2) Lots of arts and crafts
(3) Many long walks with my lil babes in the woods
(4) Visiting with my sister at Thanksgiving
(5) Spending time with my husband

What were your highlights?

While you're thinking that over, let me tell you a little about my project above.  I am delighted to be ending this year and starting next year as part of Growing in Unity!

Such fun, oui?

Be sure to stop in and comment on my posts each day this week to qualify for awesome winnings!
At the end of the week I'll pick a random winner from all the comments.  The fabulous lucky winner will receive two itty bitty stamps.

YAY for Unity Rubber!

Over the holidays while I was relaxing and enjoying some time with the family, I made a few knitted items.  The above I made for Caitlin, who requested a warm cozy chapeau to match the cowl I gave her for Christmas.

So, of course, I had to make a little care tag to go with it!  The tag features stamps from the Unity set, In this House.  I watercolored the stamped images, punched them out, and adhered them to the painted tag.  I used some crinkle ribbon, from the 3 Girl Jam Season's Bundle.  The back, not shown, includes the stamped sentiment from the set.

Okay, so that's that.  My first GIU post.  Now, tell me one of your special 2012 moments as a comment below!  And then, go make something awesome!  You've not much time remaining here in this year!

What a wonderfully whimsical tag! I enjoyed reading about your adventures as a "serial crafter"! As so many others have done, I've gone through more crafts in my lifetime than I can even remember. The one thing that remains constant though, is paper crafting..and for the past 15 years...stamping. Love seeing all your ways of using Unity this week!

What a great tag! I love that bright base color and the stamping on it and then the house and cut out words. really nice! Let's see a great thing about 2012, the hubby and I were able to take a 10 day vacation to Europe while my parents kept the kids....we were belatedly celebrating our 10 year anniversary.

this is the best card tag I have ever seen! One of my special 2012 moments was the birth of my 4th grandchild and 2013 will bring the birth of my 5th!

Wow, Rebecca, what a way to finish 2012 and start 2013! I could never be so organized. What a beautiful tag, and hat to go with it, of course! ;) I like that you put a lot of care into the tag as well as the chapeau.

You most certainly are a busy crafter! I can barely get a few cards done, much less make hats and matching tags! They both are very pretty.

Love this chapeau. Fabulous idea to add a care tag, too. Darling use of those fun SW stamps! The highlight of 2012, personally, was getting married, for sure! Crafty wise, the launch of Pinque Peacock!

A tag with care instructions! Now that's genius! I love the fun details, and it's a great reminder for how to take care of your wonderful hand-knit chapeau!

Warm Little Sweetness

I must admit that I have become quite fond of making little bitty sweaters.   It all started on a recent trek to India traveling for business. I needed to carry just enough yarn to keep my busy bee hands occupied during the evenings in my hotel room. There are just so many hats a person can make, right?  Anyway, having limited quantities of yarn, I decided to give a small sweater a go.  This is the first one I created. I had just the perfect little buttons to add! (It really is amazing what one might find in their cosmetic bag) I love it.  This sweater is also featured on the Pinque Peacock blog   since I used her buttons.  (Go visit and see the buttons up close) This makes the sweater a really one of a kind project! This next one is perfect for a little preemie.  It's so tiny, but features a great big snowflake! Close up of the snowflake…. I also sewed on one of the StampinUp! Frosted Finishes Embellishments.  I think it finished it off nice
