Postcards from the Road

Today is my road warrior friend's birthday. I CONVENIENTLY forget how old she is now. Not to spare her, mind you, but because she is the youngest of our little group!

Our little group of Rah's live vicariously through her adventures atop Harley. (Doesn't that sound dirty?!)

She bought a Harley (or two) a year or so ago and travels around...satisfying one goal last year to bike across the US on a wildly short whirlwind of a vacation.

I just love the excitement of knowing that she's out there on a bike, troubles, anxieties, and stresses BEHIND her, kicking up the dust, and avoiding bugs and various other critters flying into her fairing (mouth)! It's a delight to me, who sits most days in front of this computer, making charts for bitter, old, corporate uptights. Oh, oops...I'm starting to sound bitter like them, eh?

As a contribution to her whiles, I created this Post Card Bag, so that when she stops for a bite, dip, nap, or drink (gasp), she has on hand a post card or two that she can send us to give update on her most recent adventure. I tried to keep the overall package small, because she is always short on space for luggage.

Psst...Don't ask her about the underwear....Well, I take that back...Do! (It's hysterical to those of us that hike and have similar issues.)

Anyway, she should be receiving this soon, but late - in my usual fashion. While I finished it Sunday, I just mailed it last night. Ah so...Isn't it grand? I really had fun putting this together. If I ever get a bike (much to my daughter's chagrin) I will definitely make a few of these to tote with me! (Because this laptop WON'T be going...who wants tie-man asking me to update a flow when I'm busy looking cool in my leathers!)

Inspirational Unity Blog Hop

I have three huge passions related to art: photography, jewelry making, and paper crafts. Above combines two of those passions: jewelry making and paper crafts. The necklace featured is a gift for a friend. I used Unity Stamp Company stamps in all the projects shown in the picture above. If you look closely, you'll even see that I used the Hawaiian Border and the swirls in the lambs fleece of Love Ewe to make the bronze charms in the jewelry above! Besides the stamps used, other materials included Bronz Clay, antiqued bronze findings, and various beads. Of course, what gift isn't complete without packaging? You can find the tutorial for the bag Here . Paper and cardstock, punches, and ribbon used are from Stampin Up! while the stamp used is from Unity's March Kit of the Month . People who know me know how I strive to use humor everyday...and especially to make light of otherwise stressful situations. So, my quote for the day has absolutely nothing to do with my project. I

Unity Blog Hop

My project today is a little mini album I put together to give to my daughter, who is exploring the possibility of traveling across America from Washington State to Delaware in July. I wanted to give her something to log and journal her adventures! I used stamps from Unity Stamp Company's June and November Kits of the Month for the cover. Inside the cover, I put a little note. She plans to hitch hike which is extremely bothersome to me. I want her to be safe! Maybe I'll suggest flying out and renting a car and doing a rode trip with her! That would curb my fears and will also be fun! The journal block comes from their September Kit . Unity Stamp Company is featuring a sale on their previous Kits! This is the time to get them if you don't have ENOUGH! See their sales here: Sales at Unity The inside pages were not made with a KOM stamp, but this stamp is cool all the same. I love this flower . It's big and has many uses! To start at the beginning of the blog hop,
