Handmade Gifts are the Bestest

One of my best friends recently graduated from Nursing school.  I cannot say enough what an amazing accomplishment this was - for she was not just a student, but also a mother, grand-mother, and manager/owner of a pretty large poultry farm.

With ALL that on her plate, wouldn't you agree with me when I say that so few could do so well.  All of us that know what she is capable of never doubted she could do it.  WE all know how when she sets out to do something ...she does it...no matter how big a task it is.

And she did...with flying colors...

So proud of her.  Trying my hardest to figure out what that perfect gift should be, was difficult for me.  Not sure why I put so much into the giving of a gift, but I do know that there is so much I'd like to say to her, but words never come.  So I can only express it through the  meager gifts I offer.

Being a very much a handmade gift sort of gal, I decided to make her a hand woven scarf.

And of course, to add that perfect touch, I very quickly made a tag to go along with it.

I know that most of the awesome projects you've seen today on the {ippity} blog are using the {ippity} set, "What's Cooking"...and they are food related, but I couldn't resist using it for my gift tag....along with  {ippity} Stitches of Buttons, and Unity's itty bitty, "Fun Burst".

Because, well, this gift, really is made with love.  To my good friend, Jean. I'm so proud of you!

Mixed Up Media Chix - Summertime Blog Hop!

I have a fun project to share today!  Very excited about this one.  I've been working on it for over a week and...well...it's still not completely done, but it's getting there!
I've done this for a super wonderful friend that is going through a bit of a rough time.  She needs encouragement, so I'm putting together a little art journal to let her know how special she is.
And while this is a special gift, it's also part of a really fun blog hop I'm participating in with the other Mixed Up Media Chix!   Follow along...You'll truly be inspired.
So, if you need to start at the beginning:

Today I'm participating in a really fun hop!  We're celebrating my friend, Julie's, 2nd anniversary blogging.  We all met through our mutual love for crafting.  It's been such a great two years admiring each other's work, sharing ideas, and supporting each other in our artsy endeavors.
If you want to see the entire hop, start at Julie's blog

Big Birthday Celebration

Are you here having fun hopping along with 3GirlJAM in celebration of Julie's sister's big birthday year?  What a great little cyber party we're having!  (she's really a young thing, but she's having a great year)

Well, if not, you should be hopping along (I'll tell you why in a moment). There are some really wonderful birthday ideas from all of us on the design team...and including Julie's two girls, who are also having fun celebrating their aunt's birthday.

If you need to go back to the beginning, head over to the 3GirlJAM blog to get started.  Otherwise....

Here's my card in celebration her special year! I used blue crinkle ribbon from the newly released Red,White,Blue Bundle. It's such a nice shade of blue!  The white has bits of the red and blue in it (and I love the ribbon when it's like that)...and the red is also pretty awesome...like marachino cherries.  The little button in the center is from Pinque Peacock (love lady bugs!) and e…
