Growing in Unity - Day 3 {Tick Toc}

So how did your New Year start?  Was it grand and to be remembered?

We said goodbye to 2012 at the Art Museum.  Fun.  And I got to wear my fancy new Christmas cowboy boots, so at least I left 2012 in style.

Ah well, my wonderful holiday is over.  Back at work.  Back watching the clock, which is what inspired my project today.  Because you know, if you have to watch the hours pass, it ought to be a beautiful one, yes?

My fingers and nails were blue for two days after I finished this.  Even with my fancy getup on at the party, my fingers were a sight.   So, this is a hardboard canvas that painted and stamped and layered and painted and stamped some more.  Then made it into a clock.

The stamp set I used for this is a little bit washi. Anyway, I just LOVE the results.  I took it to work so that at least there was a little excitement.

Here is a close-up of the texture created from the layers and letters!

Remember to leave me a comment below for your change to win 2 itty bitty stamps from Unity!  Make it exciting...tell me how your going to spend your time this year!

I LOVE doing mixed media. Your project is very inspiring. I hadn't thought of using chipboard letters-will be trying it.

This year I want to really inspire and encourage people with my art. Want to incorporate more scripture and encouraging verses/words.

So many people are discouraged and depressed-I want to lift them up and point them in God's direction.

Have a Happy New Year!

Love it! I would enjoy a time-out with that clock.

This year I plan on sewing a bunch of burlap and fabric ruffled tree skirts. Made one for my daughter-in-law for Christmas and it is beautiful. I also plan on stamping on fabric. Maybe some kitchen towels and my own text fabric and some subway-art boards. I want to try my hand at printing pictures on fabric for a memory pillow or wall hanging. Haven't decided which one yet but I do have the printer fabric sheets waiting on me to get with the plan.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful clock art.

Have a great New Year.

Rebecca, this is GORGEOUS! I am a huge fan of color and love "grabbing rainbows" every chance I get. When your hands are a "sight" just tell people that is what you were doing...LOL! I would love it if you could give a few pointers to a novice like myself on how you created this lovely piece! I hope 2013 has prosperity, happiness, good health, and good fortune for you! I plan to get the steam put under the Pinque Peacock Train and release tons of fabulous new ideas for everyone to behold!
:O)

What an awesome piece of artwork! It may have turned your fingers blue for a while, but the result is quite amazing! I'm probably going to spend my time as I always do - trying to find joy in each day regardless of what comes down the road. I find that being kind to others makes life better for me as well :)

Warm Little Sweetness

I must admit that I have become quite fond of making little bitty sweaters.   It all started on a recent trek to India traveling for business. I needed to carry just enough yarn to keep my busy bee hands occupied during the evenings in my hotel room. There are just so many hats a person can make, right?  Anyway, having limited quantities of yarn, I decided to give a small sweater a go.  This is the first one I created. I had just the perfect little buttons to add! (It really is amazing what one might find in their cosmetic bag) I love it.  This sweater is also featured on the Pinque Peacock blog   since I used her buttons.  (Go visit and see the buttons up close) This makes the sweater a really one of a kind project! This next one is perfect for a little preemie.  It's so tiny, but features a great big snowflake! Close up of the snowflake…. I also sewed on one of the StampinUp! Frosted Finishes Embellishments.  I think it finished it off nice
