Class of 2009







Today is John's High School graduation! Both Dave and John have been waiting 18 long years for this day! (although I really don't think John was really happy about it until this year, when reality set in).

Here's a picture of the graduation boy, taken by Dave several months ago.


I made the gift box for John over the course of the week. I finished the details this morning:



The diploma enclosed contains an image of his gift and a short quote:

To be all that is possible we must attempt the impossible. To be all that we can be, we must dream of being more.

When I complete the tutorial for the box, I'll post a link.

Here's a quick summary:

The cap/diploma image is from Hanna Stamps, the Hanna graduation set. I layered it with gold scalloped (Nestability) and basic gray cardstock.

The "2009 Congrats" uses Justrite's vertical stamper and the Times New Roman font set.
I used gold embroidery floss for the tassle, and a star brad from Stampin Up!

Congratulations to John. I think it must be bittersweet for parents - such a new style of life awaits! Adorable box and I'm going to have to borrow that sentiment to put in my next grad card! (hope you don't mind!)

Unity Blog Hop

My project today is a little mini album I put together to give to my daughter, who is exploring the possibility of traveling across America from Washington State to Delaware in July. I wanted to give her something to log and journal her adventures! I used stamps from Unity Stamp Company's June and November Kits of the Month for the cover. Inside the cover, I put a little note. She plans to hitch hike which is extremely bothersome to me. I want her to be safe! Maybe I'll suggest flying out and renting a car and doing a rode trip with her!
