In the Bag

Yay!  It's Friday.  So glad the weekend is here...and I'm taking the day off!  My hubby and I have a date with Caitlin (middle daughter) and her boyfriend this evening and I have too many things to do to let work get in the way...Right!

First on the list is sharing this great bag I put together to hide a gift inside!  It might still be Winter, but I'm feeling the Spring-time vibes!  Can you tell?

Not going to tell you what's inside! HA!

But I will tell you a little more about it.

Products I used:

  1. Muslin Bag from 3GirlJam - This one is one of the 5x7 bags.
  2. 3GirlJam Goblin Green Crinkle Ribbon - From the Spooky Bundle
  3. 3GirlJam Button - This is a little sneak peak of what's to come in March!
  4. Your favorite cotton fabric in coordinating colors
  5. Fabric/Acrylic paint
  6. Two sided fusible webbing
  7. Stamps (the stamp I used was one I cut on a lino-block myself!)
  8. Medium Ric-Rac
  9. Felt
  10. Your favorite pattern cutting tool (I used my StampinUp! Big shot, Top Note Die, Blossom
  11. Parties Originals die) - cuz it is my go-to fav machine!

Here's a close-up of the sneak-peak button:

I replaced the bag "pull" with the crinkle ribbon...because I liked that it added more sophistication to the bag.  It really gives it a "smart" appeal.  How I did this without loosing my mind!?  I tied (tightly to make a small, secure knot) the replacement ribbon to the standard pull and then gently ran it through by cinching and guiding it through.

Hint:

I used the acrylic paint for the stamping directly on the bag.  You can use acrylic paints with rubber stamps without issues...I do it all the time.  But it is sometimes tricky applying it evenly to a stamp.  I'll give you a secret....I use a porcelain paint watercolor palette for mine and a brayer.....I already had the palette...they are EXPENSIVE, but you know what works BEAUTIFULLY?  - a smooth gloss coated 12x12 tile from your home improvement store!  So here is what you do:

  1. Put a small dab acrylic paint on your tile
  2. Using your brayer, even out the paint rolling the brayer.  It should roll out to an area larger than your stamped image.
  3. "Ink" up your stamp in the paint like you would using a stamp pad.
  4. Stamp on fabric.
Repeat 1-4 as needed.  If you are adding repeating images as I did in my project, you won't need to add acrylic paint with EVERY application.  You'll be able to tell when the paint needs to be "resurfaced" on the tile.

Goodness Gracious are you still with me?  Hope So...

Hello, everyone.  Over the weekend, I made this 12 x 12 inch printable page.  I will add another version later this week, that will have smaller and more numerous eyeballs!

To save at the original version size, click on the image and then click again to zoom in.  Then you can save and print it!

Mixed Up Media Chix - Summertime Blog Hop!

I have a fun project to share today!  Very excited about this one.  I've been working on it for over a week and...well...it's still not completely done, but it's getting there!
I've done this for a super wonderful friend that is going through a bit of a rough time.  She needs encouragement, so I'm putting together a little art journal to let her know how special she is.
And while this is a special gift, it's also part of a really fun blog hop I'm participating in with the other Mixed Up Media Chix!   Follow along...You'll truly be inspired.
So, if you need to start at the beginning:

Oh, guess what else is going on...
IT'S OFFICIALLY SUMMER.
IT'S MY ANNIVERSARY.
Anyway... Here are a few images of the pages in the journal.

Each page has a little journal page insert:

This journal was made from lots of recycled stuff, including...wait for it....
